The story of 7-year-old Anaya Ellick will not only make you feel warm and fuzzy but inspire you to do more every day – because nothing should hold you back.

This determined girl from Chesapeake, Virginia, just won the Nicholas Maxim Award, which is a national perfect penmanship competition. What makes this even more remarkable is that Anaya was born without hands.

From the time she was a baby, Anaya took life by the horns. She taught herself how to eat with utensils, play with any toy she wanted and to write and color beautifully. She certainly doesn’t let her disability hold her back.

According to a local news interview, “From an early age, Anaya got the message from her family that she could do anything. When she wanted to draw, she learned how to balance a crayon or marker between her arms. By the time she was 5, she stopped using prosthetics. They were slowing her down more than helping.”
