1) “I feel that if I have more resources, then I can help more people”
It is Important to Remember that your ability to be successful is not about your resources, its about your resourcefulness. Kanye knows that when you have a big platform, you can do big things. By asking Mark Zuckerberg for $53 million he wasn’t asking for a hand out he was using his environment and social world to create an opportunity to find solutions.
2) “The exact amount of emotion, color palette, sonics, and everything I put in to my music, I put in to my shoes
The difference between good and great is simply, effort. Kanye, as crazy and emotional as you make think he is, puts 100% of him self in to his products he creates. From his music, his clothes, his shoes, even his twitter rants, he doesn’t do anything at half speed. Malcolm Gladwell in his book “Outliers” says “...If you work hard enough and assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desires.”
Kanye someone that believes he can shape a better world for everyone, who are we to say that he can’t?
3) “Talk about how many times you’ve been blocked, from being able to excel”
This one can be summed up by simply quoting Winston Churchill, “ Success consists of going from Failure to Failure without loss of enthusiasm”
4) “I know I can make a difference through my skill set”
My Brother, Dj Corchin, is a children’s book author that prides him self on the statement “Imagination is the greatest superpower”. Every single person has a skill, a thought, and the ability to make a difference. Most people don’t understand that making a difference completely escapes the perception of size. Your ability to make a difference isn’t measured by what you see in front of you, every action creates a ripple with no logical end!! Stop letting your perception of what “making a difference” is get in the way of you making a difference. If you have a great smile, then smile at more people. If you can bake, then make some cookies for the office. If you are a good listener, find someone that needs an ear. Make a difference in someone’s world, because you can.
5) “I remember being in school and wanting to have a cool outfit” … “I want to take away bullying”
No problem is to small to solve. It's The same reason someone invented the lighter, so we didn’t have bang rocks together. Or for the same reason someone invented toilet paper, straws, gloves etc… to make people’s lives easier based on the basic needs of the world. Apple make products to improve people’s lives, Kanye wants to change the lives of little kids that aren’t given the circumstance of brand name clothing. Again referencing Malcom Gladwells’ “Outliers” "Successful people don’t do it alone. Where they come from matters. They’re products of particular places and environments” - Kanye is trying to give the kids a head start that they weren’t born in to.
6)“Isn’t that funny, people point fingers at the people that influence us the most”
You hear the stories all the time of how everyone thought Albert Einstein was Crazy, people laughed at Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Eddison. To think that you could walk over to a switch, hit it, and a light across the room would come on WAS INSANE!! Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, David Bowe … All called Crazy! A man named Billy Mitchell thought pearl Harbor is Ripe For Air Attack, called Crazy! Walt Disney and Steve Jobs both called crazy. Creativity and innovation are being sucked out of kids at a young age but fear. They are being installed with the fear of being wrong! The most beautiful thing about young kids is that in most situations, they don’t know they can’t do something. Fear is learned, and most people are taught to fear the things they don’t understand. Don’t let someone small minded crush your big ideas.
